For my thesis collection, my process  began by looking into 1970s hiking wear. To me hiking was always an activity I was forced into. Growing up my family would always go on hiking trips as a way to include our family dogs into our summer vacations. Instead of going on a relaxing beach vacation, I was pushed into a world that was wet and muddy, and filled with mosquitoes. The garments I had to wear were strictly for practicality instead of aesthetic purposes.

For my collection I wanted to bring something different into the world of hiking. Hence my research continued, and I looked into the American designer Halston, particularlly his work from the 70s. Halstons was known for his simple yet beautiful designs, creating dresses with a lot of fluidity to them. 

With my collection I aim to bring the elegance of Halston into the hiking world by analyzing the drapes from Halston and combining them with different garments that are worn when hiking and their details.

The materials are mainly derived from the fabrics that are commonly used in Halston’s work, such as sequined fabrics, jersey, and satins. However some are also from the world of hiking, such as the fleec
